Yang Baozhong (1899-1967) [1], courtesy name Xinchen. Originally from Hefei, Anhui Province, he is a veteran actor of the Chinese Peking Opera Yu School, and later specialised in playing the piano.
Yang Baozhong was fond of music in his childhood and had a long experience with Chen Yanheng, a pianist.
He is also addicted to Western music, and learned the violin from Zhuzhu, and integrated some bowing techniques of the violin into the huqin performance. His fingering is flexible and his bowing is smooth and unique. After middle age, he officially worshipped Xi Zigang as a teacher and played the piano professionally. He successively cooperated with Yan Jupeng, Ma Lianliang, Yang Baosen, etc. His collaboration with Yang Baosen and drummer Hang Zihe was called the Three Wonders by the audience.
