Guqin Cultural Salon was held at the China Cultural Center in Berlin

The purpose of this cultural salon is to introduce and display the art of Chinese Guqin, so that the guests can appreciate the unique charm of this ancient art of Guqin in the beautiful and moving music, and feel the extensive and profound traditional Chinese culture.

As a world intangible cultural heritage, guqin is one of China's oldest and most representative traditional Musical Instruments, said Sun Qinhang, director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin, in his speech. The Center hopes that through this cultural salon, Chinese and German people can better understand and appreciate Guqin music and feel the charm of Guqin art, so as to promote the artistic and cultural exchanges between China and Germany and enhance the friendship between the two peoples.

The Center invited Li Pengpeng, lecturer from the Department of Music, Weimar Liszt Conservatory of Music, to give a comprehensive and detailed introduction to Guqin art and its status and influence in Chinese culture, philosophy and aesthetics.

Li Pengpeng learned guqin from his father Professor Li Xiangting when he was young. During his study in the Central Conservatory of Music, he learned from Mr. Xu Jian, a researcher of the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Since 1986, he has been engaged in teaching and performing guqin for a long time.

In the evening, Li Pengpeng and her students Wang Xiaochan and Fu Yin respectively played classic Guqin songs of different styles, such as "Orchid" (excerpt), "Three lane of Plum Blossom", "flowing water", "Spring Xiao Yin" and "Guan Shanyue", providing a rich and long lasting Guqin elegant music for the guests. After the free playing session, Xu Zhen, the Chinese teacher of the center, played her famous song "Shen Ren Chang" as a Guqin lover, which added to the fun of the activity. In addition, under the guidance of teachers and students of Taoyuan Guqin Club, some of the audience also tried to play guqin at close range, to personally appreciate the extraordinary charm of Guqin art. The scene atmosphere is harmonious and happy.

In the interactive activity that night, the audience was eager to ask questions. Ms. Katarina Victor, a German friend, said that she had visited China in 2002 and learned how to play the guqin from Li Pengpeng's teacher, Mr. Xu Jian. She was especially grateful for the cultural salon held by the center, which allowed her to further experience the charm of Guqin art in Germany.

"Culture Salon" is a cultural brand created by Berlin China Cultural Center. It aims to show a credible, lovely and respectable image of China through a series of colorful cultural activities, open a window for German people to get closer to China, and promote mutual understanding, respect and friendship between the Chinese and German people.
