The performance art of Shandong zither is one of the most influential zither schools in China. It is mainly spread in Mudan District and its surrounding areas in Heze City, Shandong Province. Shandong guzheng music has a long history. According to legend, in the Western Han Dynasty, there were local folk zheng songs such as Autumn Moon in Han Palace and Hidden Gong sighing. Up to the Ming Dynasty, zither was widely popular in the southwest of Shandong, and the performance skills also developed greatly. Since the early Qing Dynasty, Zheng music had become a part of people's life in Heze and other places. There was a saying among the people that "most of the big households in the city had songs, and every village outside the city had zheng". The representative songs include Autumn Moon in Han Palace, High Mountains and Flowing Water, etc., and the small board Zheng song, which is adapted from local rap and folk tunes in modern times, is concise in structure, full of changes in rhythm, and beautiful and soft in melody. It is mainly popular in Heze area, and the representative songs include Fengxiang Song and the World as One. There are ten sets of classical Zheng songs spread in Heze, and more than 200 small plate songs.
