On the evening of Dec 31, 2022, the annual Beijing New Year Concert held by the National Center for the Performing Arts arrived as scheduled.

At this special moment, Lv Jia led the orchestra and chorus of the National Center for the Performing Arts, and joined hands with Lv Siqing, Yuan Chenye, Zhang Liping, Zhao Cong, Yu Hongmei, Cheng Haoru, Zhu Qiang, Zheng Xiao, Xue Haoyin, Wang Hexiang, Zhang Wenqin, Hu Yue and other artists to present many fine works of Chinese and foreign art to the online and offline audiences. The show sold out early and was broadcast live on the Classical music channel of the National Center for the Performing Arts and several online platforms in order to let more people enjoy the music.

On the night of the performance, Lyu Jia, the artistic director of the National Center for the Performing Arts, took the stage first. Under his conductor, the orchestra and chorus of the National Center for the Performing Arts played "Ode to the Red Flag", which is also the opening piece of the Beijing New Year Concert that has accompanied everyone for 15 years.

After a rousing rendition of "Ode to the Red Flag," Beijing Opera, guzheng, erhu and pipa, which are engraved in the Chinese DNA, began to ring out in turns. Peking Opera performers Zhu Qiang and Zheng Xiao sang the new work of Peking Opera and the band "Duojiao Jiang Shan", guzheng player Cheng Haoru and Erhu player Yu Hongmei collaborated with the orchestra on "A Flowing River with Rhapsody" and "Introduction, Singing and Allegro", respectively. Pipa player Zhao Cong also joined hands with the orchestra to express the best and most affectionate blessing for our times with the third movement of "Happy Days" in "Lucky Days".

As a national cultural platform, the National Center for the Performing Arts not only showcases outstanding Chinese works, but also countless classical music from around the world. The first act of the Famous Singers of Nuremberg, led by Lu Jia, was one of the most memorable pieces for many music fans, followed by baritone Yuan Chenye's "Matador Song" from Carmen, and soprano Zhang Liping's festive "Waltz of the Sound of Spring". Four singers, Xue Haoyin, Wang Hexiang, Zhang Wenqin and Hu Yue, performed "I've seen you Since the Day" in the opera Rigoletto.

Near the end of the performance, the famous violinist Lu Siqing's appearance brought the atmosphere to a climax. He cooperated with the orchestra to perform "The Sun Shines over Tashkurgan". Afterwards, the orchestra and chorus of the National Center for the Performing Arts also performed the magnificent "triumphal March" from "My Motherland" and the opera Aida.

During the encore at the end of the show, the artists prepared a special musical gift for the great city of Beijing, and the theme song of "Me and You" and "Snowflake" brought everyone's mind back to the shining moments of 2022 and 2008. After that, the artists performed "Drinking Song" from the opera "La Traviata" and "Me and My Motherland" in a heated atmosphere.
