Cheng Haoru is a young guzheng player and a guzheng teacher at the Central Conservatory of Music. He has won many high-profile awards such as the Gold Award of the CCTV National Instrumental Music TV Competition, the Gold Award of the Youth Professional Group of the Second International Guzheng Competition in Hong Kong, the Gold Award of the Youth Professional Group of the Flying World Cup in the United States, and the Bronze Award of the Seventh Golden Bell Award.
Born in 1992, he started learning Guzheng at the age of four, and was enlightened by Mr. Zhao Lin. He has performed on stage since the age of five, and has been active on the stage of major theatrical performances, and has been praised by municipal leaders. Won the highest prize in the Children's Folk Music Competition several times.
In 2002, he studied with the famous Chinese guzheng performer and guzheng educator, Professor Zhou Wang from the Central Conservatory of Music.
In 2004, he was admitted to the fifth grade of the primary school attached to the Central Conservatory of Music with the first place, and from then on, he began to study the guzheng major. In the same year, he won the gold medal in the 2004 Dandelion China Youth Art New Talent Selection Competition and the gold medal in the Oriental Youth Art Star Competition. In 2005, he participated in the "Zheng Wang Teacher and Student Guzheng Concert" and performed solo.
In 2006, he was successfully promoted to the junior high school attached to the Central Conservatory of Music.
In 2007, in the first CCTV National Instrumental Music Television Competition, he won the silver prize in the youth group (the first in the guzheng group). In the same year, he was invited as a demonstration performance of the CCTV music channel "Music Tells You - Guzheng Classroom".
In 2008, he won the Silver Award in the Guzheng Junior Professional Group of the Wenhua Art School Award (gold award is vacant).
In 2009, he won the gold medal in the guzheng youth group in the 2nd CCTV National Instrumental Music TV Competition. In October of the same year, he won the Bronze Award in the Guzheng Group of the Seventh China Music Golden Bell Awards.
In August 2010, he won the gold medal in the guzheng youth group of the 3rd American Feiyang World Cup Chinese National Instrumental Music International Competition.
In July 2011, he won the gold medal in the youth professional group of the 2nd International Guzheng Competition. On August 3, 2021, the School of Music, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) will offer an advanced music workshop taught by music masters. Cheng Haoru is one of the master class teachers for the 2021-2022 school year.
