Graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1965 and stayed at the school to teach erhu. In 1973, he served as the head of the teaching and research group of the Laxian group. In 1979, he served as the deputy director of the Folk Music Division of the High School Affiliated. In 1984, he was the music director of the Shanghai Children's Art Troupe to visit the United States. In 1986, he served as the deputy director of the Folk Music Department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and later served as the director.
