Yang Yang (scientific name Hu Xuwan) was born in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. At the age of 18, he is currently studying Guzheng in the third grade of the high school attached to the Central Conservatory of Music. Under the tutelage of Professor Yuan Sha, a famous guzheng performer and educator from the Central Conservatory of Music.

Yang Yang is the only student of the Central Conservatory of Music who has been selected for two top-notch musical talents at the same year.

At the age of 9, he was admitted to the Primary School Attached to the Central Conservatory of Music with the first place in the country. He has been rated as "Three Good Students in Fengtai District, Beijing" and "Three Good Students in Beijing" for many times. At the age of 12, he was once again promoted to the Affiliated Middle School of the Central Conservatory of Music with the first place in the country.
