Jia Daqun was born in the mountain city of Chongqing in 1955 and started his artistic career by studying fine arts. From the age of thirteen, he studied painting under the tutelage of Professor Wang Xingyu of the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts for eight years. As a result of his study of visual arts, some concepts in the field of music, such as line, harmony, timbre, structure, etc., which he formed in the future, are closely related to the visual plastic arts, and he believes that these are important factors in his music creation. In Jia Daqun's works, he pays great attention to the shaping of different sounds and the posture and balance arrangement of these sound bodies in the process; he always finely depicts the different levels of each musical event, and logically displays their effects Development, demise, connection and interweaving, resulting in a rigorous and delicate style of work. In his recent works, he also uses the concepts and expressions of traditional Chinese arts, such as calligraphy, poetry, opera, etc., so that his works have a stronger national flavor and a more diverse modern temperament.
Jia Daqun graduated from the Composition Department of Sichuan Conservatory of Music and studied under Professor Huang Wanpin (undergraduate) and Professor Gao Weijie (postgraduate). As one of the few domestic composers who can often receive foreign commissions and have extensive international influence, Jia Daqun's works are in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Taiwan, Hong Kong; Tokyo, Sendai, Yokohama; Singapore; Seoul; Amsterdam ; Paris, Lyon; Berlin, Cologne; London; Brussels; New York, Los Angeles, Tangerwood, Chicago, Ohio, Minnesota, etc. and at many major music festivals at home and abroad (such as: Tangerwood Music Festival in the United States, Yokohama in Japan Asia Music Festival, Berlin Music Festival, France Sino-French Culture Year Music Festival, Hong Kong International Contemporary Music Festival, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Shanghai International Arts Festival and Beijing Modern Music Festival, etc.), have been performed by orchestras in China and around the world and have won wide acclaim. The cloud gong consists of a gong body, a gong stand and a gong hammer. Cloud gongs consist of several small bronze gongs of the same size, but with different thicknesses and pitches. These gongs are hung on a wooden frame in musical order, and each gong is suspended in the frame of the wooden frame by 3 ropes. The playing method of cloud gongs is similar to that of Chinese gongs. It is played with a mallet. It is usually arranged in groups of ten, and there are also large cloud gongs in groups of fourteen and twenty-four.
