Yi nationality suona, Yi nationality double-reed air-sounding musical instrument. The time to draw the material should also be selected in winter, and the sycamore tree should be placed at home to dry in the shade before it can be made. The suona pan is like a horn, in fact it is a suona loudspeaker. The mouth of the pan (below) is wide and the head (upper) is narrow. It won't fall off, and it won't come loose. To loosen or separate the suona plate from the suona rod, only press the suona rod down or lift the suona plate up. The thickness of the suona plate is generally about 0.5 cm. The upper part of the suona shell should have a shallow ridge about 1 inch wide, and the middle part should have a round-backed waist with a width of about 0.8 centimeters and a height of about 0.5 centimeters. The suona plate is first made by burning red from the bottom to the top in the center of the cross section of the plate. After the through hole reaches the center of the plate head, the hole is slowly enlarged with a knife, gouge, planer and other tools until a suona is formed. Then use a scraper to smooth the inside and outside until you are satisfied. If there are more sophisticated manufacturers, the suona plate mouth (lower part) will also be made with a slightly warped edge to increase the beauty of the suona shape.

The suona plate is essentially an amplifier or resonator of the suona. Without the suona plate, the sound produced by the suona rod will not be loud. Its function is like the human mouth, which resonates for the sound emitted by the articulator. With a loud voice, the performance of suona scores can play a role in setting off a happy or sad atmosphere in various celebrations.
