Introduction to Huang Shangyuan(dizi)Master performer

Huang Shangyuan, who moved to Wuhan later, learned the flute at the age of 8, and took records as his teacher. In 1958, he won the first prize at the Hubei Province Amateur Art Festival with "Joyful Meeting" and "Flying Kite". In 1960, he was admitted to the High School Attached to the Central Conservatory of Music with a piece of "Jasmine".

He studied flute under the tutelage of Yang Youlin and Jiang Zhichao, and joined Liu Sen as a teacher with Jian Guangyi. In 1963, he graduated from the Affiliated High School and worked as a flute teacher at the Inner Mongolia Art School. During the Cultural Revolution, he was exiled to the desert for trumped-up charges, and later returned to the Wuhan Boiler Factory to work as a worker. Afterwards, he devoted himself to the study of flute art, wrote and wrote songs, and even taught students. The students taught by him include Li Zhen, Yu Dechen, Kong Qingwen, Zhang Guozhu, Zhou Qing, Wang Wu and so on.

In recent years, he has devoted himself to the research of flute production and technological reform.

Now he is employed as a consultant by the Chinese Folk Music Society Bamboo Flute Professional Society.
