Liang Mingyue

Liang Mingyue is a composer and musicologist, born in Beiping, Hebei, in 1941 in Huangguo, Henan. He studied Guzheng with his father Liang Zaiping since he was a child, and also studied Guqin under Hu Yingtang.
In 1957, he studied violin and theoretical composition in the Music Department of the Taiwan Academy of Arts. In 1964, he studied at the School of Music of the University of Hawaii, and then transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles, to study ethnomusicology with professors such as Seager and Hood, and obtained a master's degree and a doctorate degree. During the 1970s, he held short-term appointments and lectures in universities in many European and American countries. In the 1980s, he was a professor in the Music Department of the University of Maryland, and gave extensive lectures in many countries in Europe, Asia and America. His main works include symphonic music "God Tour", "Floating Clouds", "Yi Shuihan", large-scale opera "Nine Songs" and so on. His main works include "Research on Guqin", "Tonglun of Chinese Music", "Research on Jiang Baishi's Duqu", "National Music with a Long History" and so on.
