The old man who played the bamboo flute was Liu Guozeng.

Speaking of the fate of Liu Guozeng and the bamboo flute, it can be traced back to when Liu Guozeng was in middle school. Liu Guozeng's hometown is in Tongxu County. Born in the countryside, he likes to listen to opera since he was a child. "I always thought that there was a musical instrument in Henan Opera that sounded particularly good. After some inquiries, I learned that the sweet accompaniment sound was played by a bamboo flute, which made me very excited." Liu Guozeng recalled that when he was 15 years old, Years, at his request, his father agreed to buy him a flute. At that time, he couldn't put it down with the flute, and since then, Liu Guozeng began to explore how to play the bamboo flute.

However, playing the bamboo flute seems simple, but getting started is not easy. At first, when Liu Guozeng got the flute, he didn't know how to make sounds or the rules of scales. He couldn't even play the flute at all. Later, when he had nothing to do, he ran to the troupe, consulted the master who played the bamboo flute, and practiced hard after returning. Within two years, Liu Guozeng was able to play more than 10 pieces fluently and freely.

After graduating from high school, Liu Guozeng came to work in the original Kaifeng Machinery Factory from his hometown of Tongxu, and settled down in the urban area. At that time, because of his busy work, Liu Guozeng once put down the bamboo flute, but when he was free, he would still play a tune. "When I was tired from work, I played the bamboo flute to relieve stress, and when I was in a bad mood, I played the bamboo flute to relieve stress." Liu Guozeng recalled that after their unit went bankrupt, he once did a small business and drove a taxi. When he couldn't find the direction of life, he would take out the flute and play a few songs to relieve the boredom.

Today, Liu Guozeng, who is in retirement, has a lot of time to play the flute. "If it's all right, I will go to Binhe Road Huancheng Park to play the flute after breakfast in the morning, from 9:00 to 11:30, and in the evening, I will practice at home for an hour or two. To tell you the truth, I practice the loop. I practiced breathing for two years, and it wasn’t until half a year ago that I mastered the art of playing, and that day I suddenly realized the technique of playing, and I was so happy at home that I danced, jumped and danced like a child.” Liu Guozeng said.

In order to play the flute well, Liu Guozeng bought a small speaker that could play songs, which made it easier for him to learn. In addition to updating equipment, Liu Guozeng also jumped on the trend and played music software. Liu Guozeng said that this music software originally belonged to young people made him fall in love with it. "Since the day I downloaded the software, I have often recorded songs on it. I flipped through the list some time ago. I didn't expect that I had recorded nearly 50 songs." Liu Guozeng was a little excited when he mentioned this. Now whenever he is free, Liu Guozeng wears a headset to record music in his room. Sometimes a song can be recorded more than 10 times until he is satisfied. When a reporter asked how many fans he had, he smiled and said, "About 500 people have followed me. Everyone likes the works I play, and I'm very happy."
