In 1975, the lyricist Huo Hua held a meeting in Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia, to experience life in the grasslands. In 1977, Huo Hua was transferred to the Literary and Art Troupe of the People's Liberation Army Inner Mongolia Military Region to write lyrics. In order to participate in the entire military literary performance and create lyrics, he remembered this passage of time and was deeply moved. He wrote the first draft of the lyrics for "Beautiful Grassland, My Home". As it was prepared for the performance, the initial draft of the lyrics was written in a relatively short format; Due to the age of creation, there are also slogans such as "Daqing, Dazhai, Infinite Good" in the initial draft of the lyrics. After the lyrics were created, Amin Buhe, then the deputy head of the Inner Mongolia Military Region Arts and Crafts Corps, composed the music, and Wang Huanfeng sang it, and participated in the military art performance.
