Mr. Zhou Yanjia served as the director of the Folk Music Department of Xi'an Conservatory of Music, the vice chairman of the Guzheng Society of the Chinese Musicians Association and the Guzheng Professional Committee of the Chinese National Orchestra Society, the chairman of the Shaanxi Qinzheng Society, and the editor-in-chief of "Qinzheng" magazine, leading the "Qinzheng Shaanxi genre". Mr. Zhou Yanjia is committed to innovating Qin Zheng's art, reforming musical instruments and seeking breakthroughs. In 1960, he developed the double-row zither, and in 1972 he trial-produced the 16-string pedal-tuned zither. These musical instrument reforms, in order to better reflect the characteristics of Qinzheng art, not only provide new ideas for the development of guzheng art, but also lead guzheng artists to carry forward the spirit of innovation, change and excellence while adhering to the tradition.

Due to Mr. Zhou Yanjia's achievements in the development of guzheng art throughout his life, he was awarded the "Outstanding Achievement Award of Chinese Guzheng Art" by the Guzheng Society of the Chinese Musicians Association in 2014; The certificate of the representative inheritor of the cultural heritage project "Qin Zheng", and the "Xinyi Cup" Outstanding Folk Music Educator of the Chinese National Orchestra Society in 2019, among other awards.
