The Bamboo Flute and the Band, "Stopping Style", was created in 1997 by Mr. Ma Di, a famous flute player and representative of the "Chang'an Music School". The elements of the music come from Xintianyou in northern Shaanxi, "Tears are thrown in the Artemisia argyi forest", which depicts the historical changes of the fortress with the creative technique of time and space development. In 2011, this work won the first prize (the first place in the total score) of the "Shaanxi Province First National Instrumental Music New Works Competition" sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial Government and the Provincial Department of Culture and undertaken by the Shaanxi Provincial National Orchestra Society. "Chang'an Music School" is mainly based on folk songs in northern Shaanxi. Its performance techniques and artistic style are both rough and bold, but also gentle and delicate, integrating the heroic feelings and delicate emotions of the people of northern Shaanxi. Anyone who has been to northern Shaanxi knows that this place is located on the Loess Plateau, where the land is barren but the folk customs are simple. Due to the special geographical environment, women and men living in "Geiliangliang" and "Shangougou" "meet face to face". It’s easy, but it’s hard to speak.” They have natural good voices, and they can linger on the mountain ridges for a long time with a roar of “Daba”. So this sad and mournful “suffering” has become a haunting dream. , An irresistible feeling, a great beauty derived from nature.

The flute song "Stopping Style" is divided into three parts: Xintianyou (Introduction), Love (Adagio) and Song (Allegro).

In the introduction part, the composer used the technique of "clear blowing", and the melody was changed from the original tune of "Tear Dandan". However, the requirements for the performers are extremely high. Not only must they be able to sing this song, but they must also fully integrate their emotions, using vocal cords and a bamboo flute to "sing" the taste of Xintianyou. Therefore, it is also required to be at ease in the use of breath. In this duet (words) that sounds like two male and female voices, it may be that a woman misses her relatives, or a man misses her mother-in-law. Facing the Loess Plateau, barren ravines, vast sand dunes, lonely bamboo flute, full of sorrow and helplessness. Supporting things and expressing aspirations, borrowing scenes to express feelings, echoing in the melody of Xintianyou, which is affectionate and righteous.

After a medium-tempo crossing, the music enters the slow section. This "love" is drawn from the first sentence of the theme "Tear Dandan" and developed in the way of "one question and one answer". The melody is in cadence and eloquence, and it hits the depths of people's hearts. Every sentence in this piece of music seems to be telling a touching life story, and there is even more sadness intertwined in the bones of the flute music. The music does not have to be too strong when playing, but it should reflect an inner suppressed emotion. In the depths of love, an inexplicable melancholy of heartbroken horizons accumulated in his chest, and slowly spread along with the cold northwest wind. And this kind of "small" love between children and children has gradually expanded into a "big" feeling for their homeland. The yellow land of the ancestors, when will you be able to get out of the barren and create greater glory? In terms of playing technique, the composer used finger rubbing and air glissando many times to express the emotion of the music. In terms of intensity changes, the use of strong and weak playing echoes, "parabolic" and other techniques to express feelings to the extreme.

With the melody line going up all the way, the music enters the allegro, and the "playing song" also begins. The music was composed in 1997, just as the horn of "Western Development" was about to sound, and the sleeping Loess Plateau ushered in a new opportunity for development. What an exciting moment. The composer's creation in this section also changed from the previous "suppression" to "yang", and the mood gradually became clearer. The melody line of the big line and the majestic band echo, the solo bamboo flute plays with an unstoppable momentum, and there is a sense of "heart and dripping" in the musical performance.

After a brief interlude, the drums of the northern Shaanxi waist drum "sound" on the bamboo flute. This is a new technique specially created by Mr. Ma Di for this song: the sound of the waist drum on the flute. Waist drum Yangko is a traditional folk art spread in Yulin, Ansai and other areas in northern Shaanxi. The waist drum in northern Shaanxi is characterized by its unrestrained, heroic and majestic characteristics. It is said that it evolved from the military drum of the ancient frontier garrison, and it is still widely circulated among the people. Every festive season, the local people will automatically organize a waist drum team of hundreds of thousands of people, with heroic dance steps and vigorous drum sounds shaking the mountains and rivers. The first is to bless people with peace in all seasons and the weather is good; the second is to show the brave, strong and tough man character of the people. Through the ingenious combination of finger slide and air slide, the warm atmosphere of waist drum performance can be perfectly presented on the bamboo flute, and the subsequent increase in tonality and the combination of continuous tonality, calendar, and finger vibrato make the performance of the waist drum perfect. The enthusiastic scene of building a beautiful home with sleeves up and arms thrown off is prosperous.

The music reaches its climax in the reproduction of the long-line melody, the solo bamboo flute and the band's duet, with passion and blood boiling. The last part of the music, the long melody "fa-sol-la-", from weak to strong, is closed in the strong tone, ending the whole song. The composer Ma Di is a native of Chang'an who grew up at the starting point of this ancient Silk Road. While inheriting the traditional method of playing the flute, he has learned from others' strengths and has created many new techniques such as finger kneading, flute music, waist and drum sounds, etc., which further enriches bamboo. The expressive power of the flute has become a representative of Western Chinese musicians. He has formed a unique and distinct artistic style in terms of playing skills, composition creation and teaching methods, and is unique in the flute art world.
