Zhonghu overview

Zhonghu Zhonghu (pinyin: zhōng hú) is a musical instrument restructured on the basis of the erhu. All erhu playing skills are suitable for Chinese hu playing. It is still a less sensitive instrument. It is best at playing some lyrical, vast singing melodies, long harmonics and not very complicated tone patterns, and less fast and colorful melodies.

Zhonghu was reformed from the erhu, the stem is longer than that of the erhu, and the strings are thicker than those of the erhu. The Zhonghu is an important Chinese instrument of the Erhu ethnic group in the folk band. It is reformed and made on the basis of the Erhu. The barrel is larger than the erhu, the stem is slightly longer than the erhu, the strings are thicker than the erhu, and the tone is richer. It is an indispensable instrument for the national orchestra. It is often used for the performance of the alto part, and can also be played solo or in ensemble.

In order to make the plucking effect crisp and bright, in addition to the agility and accuracy of the action, the quality of the instrument itself, the structure and the quality of some accessories are also very important. Generally speaking, the plucking effect of low-grade Zhonghu is not as ideal as that of high-grade Zhonghu. The effect of steel strings is better than that of silk strings; the "S"-shaped metal daughter is better than the effect of tying the strings directly with cloth strips and leather strips; the pine bridge is better than the bridge of other materials, and the gold is farther away from the bridge than the closer. The effect is good. If possible, replace these attachments for better string plucking.
